Homemaker Contribution

Homemaker contribution means the work of running the home and caring for the family. It earns no salary, but it still counts.

Since the amendment in force from 15 December 2018, Section 76 of Act 164 requires the court to consider the contribution of looking after the home or caring for the family when dividing assets, even assets the other spouse paid for.

Why it matters: if you stayed home or gave up work to care for the family, you may still have a claim to a share of the property.
