Clean Break
A clean break means the financial ties between divorcing spouses are cut completely.
Instead of one spouse paying the other every month, the matter is settled once, usually by a lump sum payment or a transfer of property. Malaysian courts may apply this approach where it suits the case.
Why it matters: a clean break lets both of you move on without depending on future payments. It may not suit every family, especially where one spouse needs ongoing support.
