Interim Protection Order (IPO)
An Interim Protection Order (IPO) is a temporary court order under the Domestic Violence Act 1994 (DVA 1994).
It protects the victim straight away while the court waits to hear the application for a full protection order.
It can be obtained ex parte, which means the other party does not need to be present.
Why it matters: if you are in danger now, you do not have to wait for a full hearing to get protection.
